Book Updates

Fast-Tracked is currently getting edited. July 13th is the release date.

I’m in the process of making Verita available in paperback.

Currently I am working on completing both The Darkness Within and Concisus − the second book in the Verita series. My goal is to complete The Darkness Within first and then Concisus.

There is a strong chance that the title of The Darkness Within will change. There are simply too many books that share its title. Besides, now that the project has progresses, I’m not convinced that it’s the best title for the novel.

My picture

I finally gave in and uploaded a photo of myself. It wasn't as easy a task as it sounds. Of the hundreds of pictures I have saved over the years, so very few of them are of me. I tend to be behind the camera taking the pictures. Plus I have a tendency to partially close my eyes in photos. Completely closed wouldn't be so bad, but partially closed makes me look weird. So after some searching I finally found a recent photo of myself that I like.

What's in a Name?

Just in case you're wondering where I got the name for Verita:

Many of our planets get their name from Greek or Roman mythology. In Roman Mythology, Veritas, was the goddess of truth. In Greek mythology, she was known as Aletheia. So I decided to call my planet Veritas.

As the novels in the series progressed, the truth became a more significant theme. So I decided to use Veritas as my title. However, Brett is never given the whole truth. So Veritas became Verita. As Brett slowly uncovers the truth she must decide what, how much, and to whom she should reveal it to.

I Hate Picking Quotes

Today it was pointed out to me that I should add a quote to my facebook page. I hate picking quotes. To me picking a quote is like declaring this is who I am. And honestly, who I am changes with my mood and the situation.

I’m a different person when I’m with my daughter than when I’m out with friends or typing at my computer.

If I’m in a good mood a light, hopeful quote involving rainbows and unicorns is appropriate. A deep, poignant quote fits a pensive mood. If I happen to be in a really, exceptionally foul mood, quotes and everything else in the world are stupid. Don’t even bother to convince me otherwise. Just give me some angry music to listen to and leave me alone until I calm down enough to be rational again.

Editing finished

My editing was actually finished early last week, but computer issues slowed me down. I have now finished reading through the many typos Nicholas found for me (his website). I will never again attempt to do my own editing. Fortunately there are indie editors out there that will do the editing without draining my bank account. That way I can focus on the story, instead of my typing skills.

Verita is now available at:
Amazon.com

Laptop Trouble.

My laptop gave me a scare. It told me that there was a critical hard drive error. Then, it rebooted. When my screen reappeared, Internet explorer was the only visible icon. The computer tried to scan and correct the issue. However, to use the advanced scan, I needed to upgrade. I got suspicious and hopeful.

After several stressful days I finally have my laptop back up and running. I finally gave in and used my system restoral disks. Fortunately I recently backed up everything of value. So, I didn’t lose anything except time. The message that said 31% of my hard drive was unreadable was nothing more than malware.

On the plus side, my computer is now clutter-free. Only programs and files I use are on my computer now.
